Green Cell

Cell No. 4, Acrylic on Canvas, 30 x 40 inches

Cancer is ugly.  With the death of my dad, I witnessed just how ugly it can be. After researching cancerous cells, I found inspiration from the beauty of the form.  I could continue to be bitter and angry but instead I've decided to see Cancer differently.  Ironically, despite it's destructive force, the micro world is both fascinating and beautiful.

I refer to photographs of cells to create the circular structures but also leave things up to chance by letting the paint and my artistic intuition lead me as I work.
